Chicago’s tallest building, the Willis Tower, lights up in three colors on March 3
For the first time in Chicago, one of the most iconic buildings in the city will be illuminated on the occasion of Bulgaria’s national holiday, March 3. This was announced by the Consul General of Bulgaria in Chicago, Svetoslav Stankov, told BTA.
The colors of the Bulgarian flag will illuminate the antennae of the tallest building in Chicago – the Willis Tower, which is the third tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
Stankov met with Gary Mitchen, General Manager at Willis Tower, and Zachary Thomas, Operations Coordinator, and who specified the final details of „this first-of-its-kind recognition to the Bulgarian community.“
According to our Consul General, our compatriots are a successful and inseparable part of the socio-economic life of the „Windy City“.
Built in 1973. and 442.3 m high, Willis Tower held the record for the tallest building in the world for 25 years.
