What happens to our luggage while traveling by plane

Anyone who has traveled by plane knows that there are strict rules when it comes to packing luggage. When we „check in“ our suitcases, they go through special checks and travel in a separate room on the machine. However, have you ever wondered what procedures the luggage goes through before we collect it at the next airport?

First, the suitcases are weighed and measured. They are then given a label that shows the destination the baggage is flying to and has an airport code. The suitcase then goes on a conveyor belt where all the checked bags are located. From there they go to the baggage department.

An airport employee checks the codes of the suitcases and puts them on a special trolley. She then hooks up to a tug that carries all the suitcases on that particular flight. There, other employees load the suitcases onto a conveyor belt. It leads to the plane’s baggage compartment, which is usually located below the passenger cabin, according to the documentary series „Did You Know That?“ on the Da Vinci channel.
