Why isn’t everyone mourning Stockton Rush who died on Titan?

The tragedy is great and everyone should honor the memory of the dead.

Oceangate CEO Stockton Rush died aboard the Titan along with 4 others.

In a statement, Ocean Gate said the company’s pilot and chief executive Stockton Rush – along with Harding and fellow UK nationals Shahzada Daoud and his 19-year-old son Suleiman Daoud, as well as French national Paul-Henri Narjolet, „unfortunately they died“.

Everyone grieves for people.

However, reviews of Stockton Rush have been mixed.

Stockton Rush is an American engineer and entrepreneur who is the founder and CEO of OceanGate, a company that offers underwater excursions to the wreck of the Titanic. He is married to Wendy Rush, who is the great-great-granddaughter of Isidore and Ida Strauss, two first-class passengers who died in the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. Stockton Rush was born in Seattle and graduated from Princeton as an aeronautical engineer.

Here’s how CNN described it:

Ambitious, curious and driven by nature – this is the best way to describe the inventor, aeronautical engineer and entrepreneur Scotton Push, who is also his father Titan (p. a submarine-like melting vessel) disappeared until it reached the wreckage of the Titanic together with three milliards and financial submarines.

What kind of person organizes such an exciting, but already obvious, opposite journey?

The story: the 61-year-old day In 1984, he graduated from the „Pinton“ University with a diploma in aerospace engineering. As he will say in an interview, at that moment he is still driven by his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut – if he doesn’t know exactly what he is doing, he won’t be able to fly in the mission of H ACA, that’s why it takes so much time. It also includes the work on the F-15 fighter for MS Donnell Douglas, he writes in his CNN material.

Here’s what Stephen Fried, Director of the Narrative Medicine Journalism Workshop at Columbia Narrative Medicine, wrote online

„My prayers go out to the family of #StocktonRush, the CEO and founder of OceanGate Expeditions, who lost his life, and his dream, trying to create novel technology that would allow people to deep dive and see and experience things like the Titanic.
Stockton was known in my world as the most prominent living relative of founding father Dr. Benjamin Rush. He and his wife were very kind and helpful to me in sharing family images for my biography of his ancestor, RUSH. (Here are some of my favorites from his collection, a shot of the sword wielded by Dr. Rush’s great grandfather John Rush a horse-trooper in Oliver Crowmwell’s army, a portrait of Rush, a portrait of Julia in old age, and a portrait of her intriguing mom, Annis.)
Stockton’s first name was the last name of Dr. Rush’s wife Julia (whose family home was Morven Museum & Garden in Princeton); Julia’s father, lawyer Richard Stockton, signed the Declaration along with Dr. Rush. So while much else is going to be written about Stockton, that part of his background remains a fascinating inspiration.
May Stockton’s memory be for a blessing, and may everything learned from his death help others. As his ancestor Dr. Rush once wrote of his own impending death, „the most acceptable men in practical society, have been those who have never shocked their contemporaries, by opposing popular or common opinions. Men of opposite characters, like objecxts placed too near the eye, are rare seen distinctly by the age in which they live. They must content themselves with the prospect of being useful to the distant and more enlightened generations which are to follow.“

However, not all comments under his post express grief:

Here is part:

People died because of neglect at the hands of your friend. Absolutely 0 value as a human.

Dream? No, he was an arrogant and narcissistic fool who murdered 4 people.

yeah agree and many of his statements prove it !!!!!!!! Arrogant

He got what he deserved. I don’t believe in hell, but I damn sure hope it exists for his ass. I do however believe in something similar to Karma, and boy does this affirm it

He was arrogant and a money monger. People have died. Although they too knew what they were possibly exposing themselves to. This guy was arrogant and its so obvious. He had no business doing this. Don’t mess with mother nature!!

However, many people defend it:

The Titan had made 3 previous trips to the Titanic. It’s absurd to think it hadn’t passed rigorous engineering design and testing muster or that Rush was a cowboy. He was educated as an aerospace engineer. Explorers and inventors have pushed the risk envelope since forever, and many have died for their troubles along the way. But for them, we’d still be living in caves. There is no special wisdom in risk aversion, only risk aversion.
