The whole world was in mourning after the death of Tina Turner.

The legendary singer died yesterday at her home in Switzerland after an illness.

I just watched her documentary Monday. I am sorry to hear this news!

This breaks my heart. What an amazing and strong woman she was! Her legacy is the music she leaves behind, that voice and all that strength. She suffered so much in her early years, I’m so glad she got to enjoy her later years surrounded by love and peace. Rest in peace Tina- you don’t have to fight no more.
Wow! 83 was a good age. I am glad she fulfilled her purpose and worked hard for what she had.

Tina Turner is an American singer who has found success in the rhythm and blues, soul and rock genres in a career spanning five decades. She was born on November 26, 1939 in Tennessee, USA to Zelma Priscilla and Floyd Richard Bullock. During World War II, Turner was separated from her parents and had to live with her grandparents in Knoxville.

She began singing as a teenager, and after moving to St. Louis, Missouri, immersed herself in the local rhythm and blues scene ьх met Ike Turner at a performance by his band, the Kings of Rhythm, in 1956, and soon became part of the act. She began performing as Tina Turner and her electric stage presence quickly made her the center of the show.

The ensemble, which tours as the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, is known for its live performances but has struggled to find recording success.

That changed in 1960 when „A Fool in Love“ hit the pop charts and a number of hit singles followed. Ike and Tina married in 1962, though the date is subject to some speculation (during their 1977 divorce proceedings, Ike claimed the two were never legally married).

Tina divorced Ike in 1978, alleging years of physical abuse and infidelity.

After a series of guest appearances on albums by other artists, she released her debut solo album Private Dancer in 1984. It was a triumph both critically and commercially, selling more than 20 million copies worldwide and winning three Grammy Awards, including recording of the year and Best Female Vocal Performance for „What’s Love Got to Do with It.“ The single became Turner’s signature song.

She followed her musical success with a role in the film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985).

Her career spanned five decades. After a farewell tour in 2000, she returned to the road in 2009 at the age of 69 to celebrate her 50 years in music.

She lives in Switzerland with her husband Erwin Bach, a German music executive whom she married in 2013 after more than 25 years together.
She suffered a stroke early in their marriage and he later saved her life by donating one of his kidneys.
