The families of babies who were killed or attacked by serial killer Lucy Letby in Britain have told a court how the incident has affected their lives, bTV reports.

The former nurse was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murders of seven babies and the attempted murders of six others. The parents of the victims made statements before the verdict was read.

In the courtroom, some of the families wept quietly. Even members of the jury were visibly upset as they listened to the statements.

The mother of babies A and B

„You thought it was your right to play God with our children’s lives“

The twins were attacked in June 2015. Baby A was killed on June 8, and Letby also tried to kill his sister 28 hours later.

„Our minds are so traumatized by what happened that they don’t allow us to remember the night he killed our child. After losing Baby A, we were filled with fear for the life of his sister Baby B. We are so grateful for that fear , because it was he who saved her life. There was someone from the family watching her all the time,“ the mother told the court.

„We didn’t know you were waiting for us to leave to attack her again. You thought you could come into our lives and turn it upside down, but you would never win. We hope you live extremely long and every day be torture for you,“ she adds.

The mother of baby B

„Knowing that his killer has been watching us the whole time is like a horror movie“

Baby B’s mother remembers the „incredible wave of emotions“ when she first hugged her child. She calls him a „small, fighting boy“. Baby B was killed on June 14, 2015.

The woman orders a necklace with the baby’s hand and foot prints after his death, but takes it off after realizing that it was Lucy Letby who took those prints before killing him.

„There is no sentence in the world that can compare to the horrific agony we are experiencing as a family,“ the woman said.

The mother of baby G

„I desperately wanted to feel her, smell her, hug her“

Baby D’s mother holds a toy bunny in her hands during her speech. After her daughter was murdered on June 22, 2015, she demanded answers, but was initially told the case was not a police matter.

„I missed her so much …desperately wanted to feel her, to smell her, to hold her. I desperately wanted her to be safe,“ says the mother.

She also said she had lost confidence as a „woman, friend and wife“ and her marriage had suffered from the whole affair.

„Since Baby G died I’ve been living like a shadow,“ she says.

The mother of babies D and E

„Our world was destroyed after meeting the evil masquerading as a nurse“

Letby killed baby D on August 4, 2015. Only 24 hours later, she tried to kill her brother, baby E.

The mother said her family feels „like they have a life sentence because of what Letby did“. Because of the attack on the second baby, her son needs complex care. The mother is still afraid to leave him alone.

When Letby was named as a suspect in the murder, she and her husband felt „deceived and totally devastated“. She described the nurse’s absence in court as „the final act of evil“.

The father of baby Z

„Her condition affects every aspect of our lives“

Baby Z was severely injured after Lucy Letby tried to kill her twice in September 2015.

„Every day I sat there and prayed to God to save her. Save her, but the devil found her,“ the father said of their stay in the hospital.

Baby Z now has total blindness, cerebral palsy and progressive scoliosis. The father shared that his wife only gets about 2 hours of rest each night.

„We watch other families and their kids go fishing, play soccer … all the things we can’t do. She’ll never go to sleepovers, never be in high school, have a boyfriend, or get married.“ , he told the court.
