Oprah Winfrey and I are honored to announce the People’s Fund of Maui, a fund putting money directly in the pockets of those who were affected by the recent wildfires.
As we have seen firsthand, the impacts of these wildfires have been devastating, and we’re here to ensure with 100% guarantee that your donations will go directly into the hands of Lahaina residents.
Every adult resident who lives in the affected area and was displaced by the wildfires in Lahaina and Kula is eligible to receive $1,200 per month to help them through this period of recovery.

I see people on boats taking those people’s supplies because they have roads and roadways blocked off so they can’t go in or get out.

The book follows three generations of a family in the coastal region of Kerala, India, as they are haunted by a devastating event that repeats itself over and over again: in each generation, someone in the family drowns.

The novel is rich in water metaphors and explores themes such as family, religion, medicine and history.
