Russian MP from the Vologda region Andrei Kholodov came up with an extravagant proposal – if every citizen of Russia gave 50 rubles (about 1 lev), the country could buy California and turn it into a Russian state resort. This was reported by the Moscow Times, based in the Netherlands.

Kholodov compared California to Anapa, the pride of Russian Black Sea resorts, noting that the coast there is currently polluted with fuel oil.

„If we buy California, we will not have to deal with surprises on the beaches, but will rest under the hot sun,“ the MP said.

He also noted that in the warm climate of the American state, Russians could grow potatoes year-round.

Kholodov said that he was inspired by the idea of ​​\u200b\u200bformer US President Donald Trump to buy Greenland from Denmark.

“I think the current owner of the White House would agree to such a deal. He doesn’t like this state,” he added, hinting at Trump’s antipathy towards California, a traditional stronghold of the Democratic Party and former President Joe Biden.
