According to the portal Downdetector, malfunctions in the WhatsApp application have been observed for a day in Russia.
At the same time, 75% of complaints about problems with the functioning of the messenger came from Bashkiria, 25% from Moscow and the Moscow region.
As noted by the Baza Telegram channel, reports of service violations come from several regions of the country.
Users note that WhatsApp loads very slowly, messages are almost never received or sent. Both the smartphone app itself and the WhatsApp web version work poorly.
Observers link problems with cellular communications among residents of Bashkiria to a mass rally in Baymak, where a court this morning sentenced environmental activist Fail Alsinov to four years in a common-regime colony under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation („Inciting hatred or enmity“). .
Eco-activist Fail Alsinov – thousands of people gathered to save him
The heavy sentence imposed on the environmentalist caused mass indignation among Alsinov’s compatriots.
Up to 10,000 people gathered at the courthouse, despite the minus 30-degree cold, to support the activist.
Those gathered chanted slogans „Freedom for failure!“ and demanded the resignation of the head of the republic, Radii Khabirov, who wrote a denunciation against him.
The reason for the displeasure of the regional authorities with Alsinov’s position was his speech at an authorized rally in defense of the nature of Kushtau from barbaric destruction.
The head of the republic believes that in his speech at the rally, the environmental activist allegedly spoke negatively about the migrant workers from the southern Russian republics who work in the mines in Bashkiria.
Meanwhile, Alsinov’s supporters are convinced that the controversial expression „black people“ uttered by him at the rally was incorrectly translated from Bashkir into Russian: it was not meant to condemn migrants from the southern republics, but the concept of „ordinary man“.
The confrontation between the residents of Bashkortostan and the security forces escalated into fights
However, on January 16, Alsinov was added to the list of extremists and terrorists, and on January 17, he was sentenced to 4 years in a colony with a general regime, although the prosecutor asked for a lighter sentence – 4 years of imprisonment in a colony.
Alsinov’s lawyer, leaving the court, said that the sentence „has nothing to do with the law, nor with judicial practice, nor with justice.“
„We will appeal it,“ the lawyer promised.
The news of Alsinov being sent to the colony caused the indignation of thousands of compatriots.
The crowd gathered outside the court began chanting, „Shame!“ Security forces began pushing citizens out of the courthouse. Clashes, fights, beatings and arrests of protesters began.
Correspondents present at the scene reported major disruptions in the work of messengers and problems sending photos and videos from Baymak.
