Miami police boast new stables

According to surveys, the horse is one of the most loved animals in the world, along with the dog.

Over the centuries, horses have changed history.

Ever since man learned to domesticate them, they have been part of our civilization.

Even all the new technologies cannot undo them.

The Miami Police Department has an equestrian division that uses horses to patrol the streets and parks. In 2018, the Miami Police Department had 13 horses.

The work of a police officer involves many aspects. Building and maintaining police/community relations is vital, and the Mounted Patrol is an integral component of Community Policing. These renovated stables and workspaces will serve as a private, calm, and comfortable setting for our horses and where our Mounted Patrol police officers can house, groom, and train their equine partners. We are thankful for the philanthropic gesture extended by the Milton Family Foundation and their coordination with local community partners to make this possible. We are one community and together we can all accomplish more.

Any opportunities for 12 yo kids to volunteer at the stables?

I hope there is good security at night. Sure would hate to hear one was stolen & butchered for meat which has happened all over south Fla. in the past.
