The journalist and creative director of „Before noon“ on bTV Georgi Toshev not only took an interview with the star Mel Gibson, but also managed to provoke such emotion in him that he burst into tears in front of the camera. This is what viewers saw from the announcement of Toshev’s new documentary, presented at Christmas with Desi Stoyanova and Petar Dochev.

Toshev’s film is dedicated to Hristo Zhivkov, the first Bulgarian actor who really „broke“ abroad and received huge recognition and popularity in Italy, America and practically all over the world.

One of his most memorable roles is that of John the Theologian in The Passion of the Christ, directed by Mel Gibson and becoming a worldwide sensation.

Hristo Zhivkov left this world at the age of 48 in March 2023. As a tribute to him, Georgi Toshev, who described him as his best friend forever, has traveled thousands of kilometers to collect memories of him from famous people he worked with.

Mel Gibson, who rarely gives interviews and has a controversial relationship with the media, did not hide his grief at the loss of the Bulgarian actor.

Gibson also revealed that in the continuation of the biblical story, he will use the image of Hristo Zhivkov for the role of John, digitally superimposing him on the face of another.

„They did it for Harrison Ford with his own face as a young man and it was difficult. But technology is evolving and improving, so it will be possible. I have to do it because I promised him,“ said Mel Gibson.

Hristo Zhivkov also remembered another of the biggest stars of the cinema – Monica Bellucci – with great warmth.

„Christo was extremely talented. I like him not only as an actor, but also as a human being, as a person,“ she told Georgi Toshenv. His film about Hristo Zhivkov with more of the memories of Monica Bellucci and Mel Gibson will be broadcast on December 31.
