During the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, cloakrooms helped evacuate people from the building.

They turned out to be ordinary teenagers:

Islam Khalilov – 15 years old, Artem Filimonov and Artem Donskov – 14 years old. After the news that they took hundreds of people out of the building, many had a question – how were the children employed in Crocus?

MSK1.RU asked the students themselves about this and also found out why they need a part-time job at such a young age.

Artyom Filimonov, who has worked at Crocus for six months, said he heard the sounds of broken glass and machine gun fire.

The people who were in the locker room crowded around the service door and the student began giving instructions on how to get to the exit.

According to Artyom, he was officially appointed to Krokus and decided to go to work to have his own money.

“I wanted to earn my own money so I could do what I wanted.” And independence. My parents were not against it, they supported me in this idea,“ the student told MSK1.RU.

Islam Khalilov, who became perhaps the most famous hero of the Crocus tragedy, also went to work because he wanted to be financially independent from his parents.

As a result, he even gave his mother a valuable gift – an iPhone.

„I didn’t want to sit on my parents’ neck, so I went to work and helped them.

„I had a goal – to buy my mother an iPhone and I did it,“ he said in a conversation with a correspondent of MSK1.RU.

Islam memorized well the safety instructions that were explained to them on the job and was able to lead about a hundred Crocus people to safety.

He himself walked last to make sure there was no one behind. There were no casualties from the convoy he led.

14-year-old Artyom Donskov

At the time of the terrorist attack, he had only been working at the concert hall for a few months.

The first thing he saw at the time of the accident was a huge crowd starting to descend towards the -1st floor.

A few seconds later, he himself heard a volley of shots and also led the visitors to the exits.

„I just wanted to be independent from my parents, to have some money so I wouldn’t have to ask my parents. For pocket money, you could say. I already had it, but I wanted to do it myself. And get some work experience“ , he told MSK1.RU.

According to him, the boys were arranged as self-employed.

They didn’t have a specific schedule, the students went in shifts when they had free time.

Previously, a former employee of Crocus City Hall told MSK1.RU that the concert hall hires schoolchildren and students through the Internet, where they agree to work for one or two events.

According to her, the boys just need to show their passport, go to the utility room and get a uniform and a walkie-talkie.

According to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, Russian citizens can start their working career at the age of 14.

MSK1.RU learned from lawyer and labor law expert Valentina Yakovleva how the process of hiring teenagers works and is it legal?

— If we talk about labor relations, minors have a number of restrictions. They cannot be engaged in part-time work, in work that causes physical and mental harm, in night work – from 10:00 p.m.,“ the lawyer told MSK1.RU.

According to Yakovleva, when hiring teenagers over 14 years of age, the consent of the guardianship and custody authority or legal representative and the written consent of one of the parents is necessary.

For students over the age of 15, it is enough to have a standard set of documents without involving the guardianship authorities and without parental consent.

„In any case, regardless of the age of the minor, he must be sent for a mandatory preliminary medical examination, so that as part of this medical examination it is established whether the work can cause harm to the teenager or not,“ the expert noted.

The position of the wardrobe and its duties are not included in Resolution No. 85 of the Russian Ministry of Labor on financial responsibility, so the wardrobes do not bear it, Yakovleva added.

— If labor relations were formalized with them, they could not receive full financial responsibility and be entrusted with responsibility for the safety of things in the wardrobe. But I note that within the framework of a civil contract, as with the self-employed, there may be such conditions,“ she concluded.
