Rescue teams from the US issued an emergency message and released a photo of the search for Titan.
Three vessels arrived on-scene Wednesday morning, the John Cabot has side scanning sonar capabilities and is conducting search patterns alongside the Skandi Vinland and the Atlantic Merlin.
The U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, Canadian Coast Guard and OceanGate Expeditions have formed a unified command to continue responding to the 21-foot research vessel Titan from the research vessel Polar Prince that went missing Sunday night.
As of Tuesday morning, a total of 10,000 square miles had been searched under favorable weather conditions with increased visibility from the previous day.
The Bahamian research vessel Deep Energy arrived on site around 7 a.m. EDT and began operations with a remotely operated vehicle (ROV). A C-130 crew from the Air National Guard’s 106th Regiment also arrived at the scene to continue the search around 4:00 PM EDT.

The following assets are on their way:
Canadian CGS John Cabot
CGS Anne Harvey, CGS Terry Fox
Canadian CGS Atlantic Merlin (ROV)
Motor ship Horizon Arctic
Skandi Vinland merchant vessel (ROV)
French research vessel L’Atalante (ROV)
His Majesty’s Canadian Shipping Bay (mobile decompression chamber and medical staff)
„This is a complex search effort that requires multiple agencies with the expertise and specialized equipment we’ve acquired through the joint command,“ said Capt. Jamie Frederick, Coast Guard District One response coordinator. „Although the Coast Guard has assumed the role of coordinator of the search and rescue mission, we do not have all the necessary expertise and equipment required for a search of this nature. The Joint Command brings together these experiences and complementary capabilities to maximize efforts to solve this complex problem.
On June 18 at 5:40 p.m. EDT, the Coast Guard received a report of an overdue 21-foot submarine from the Canadian research vessel POLAR PRINCE with five people on board diving to view the wreck of the Titanic, approximately 900 nautical miles east of Cape Cod.

The submarine was launched at 8am and was expected to resurface at 3pm, but an hour and 45 minutes into the dive they lost contact with the Polar Prince. The Coast Guard works with international partners to make effective use of all available resources.
Contact with the submersible, called the Titan, was lost on Sunday while it was about 700km south of St John’s on the Canadian island of Newfoundland, while sailing to the wreck site.
On board the „Titan“ there are five people, including the British billionaire and adventurer Hamish Harding. Yesterday, the US Coast Guard estimated that the 20-foot-long bathyscaphe had only 40 hours of oxygen left.
Besides him, on board are the Pakistani Shahzada Dawood, his son Suleiman.
Stockton Rush, CEO and founder of the company „Ocean Gate“, which organized the expedition. They are accompanied by French submariner Paul-Henri Narjolet.
