Buzz Aldrin has named the greatest science fiction writer

Buzz Aldrin is a unique person.
He is loved all over the world.
Buzz often posts interesting posts on Facebook.

Buzz Aldrin was born on January 20, 1930, so he is 93 years old today. He is the second man to walk on the moon after Neil Armstrong during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. Aldrin has been married four times and has three children from his first marriage. He most recently married Dr. Anka Faur on his 93rd birthday in January 2023

He pointed out who the greatest fiction writer was:

In the pantheon of great American science fiction writers, I think it’s safe to say that Ray Bradbury stands tall.

For many of us, science fiction authors represent more than just spinners of entertaining yarns – they are the intellectual engineers, the thinkers about what could be, or in Bradbury’s case, what we should be concerned about. Bradbury would have been 103 today, but his works live on for us to enjoy. Of course, out of all of Bradbury’s contributions, The Martian Chronicles are probably my favorite!

Comments poured in under his post:

My favorite novelist! He signed my favorite book when I got to meet him, Dandelion Wine. But I did love Martian Chronicles.

Ray was a personal friend we shared, and he spoke of you often. Both of you went to far places and brought treasures back for the rest of us…things to teach us how we began and where we might go. Dear old Ray used only an armchair for his vehicle, of course. Thank heavens YOU weren’t afraid to fly! Thank you!

The first science fiction book I read as a kid. Really liked Bradbury’s writing style.

He’s a wonderful writer. In my later school years here in the UK I was introduced to The Golden Apples of the Sun, a book of short stories, which remains my favorite of Bradbury’s. A particular tale called Zero Hour sticks in my mind…

I remember first reading this in HS, it was so good I couldn’t stop reading it. As I put it down and looked out side, the dawn had broken and I felt I had been on Mars all night. Read it on multiple occasions since!

I love The Martian Chronicles and read it as regularly as I can! I also enjoy the 1980 miniseries starring Rock Hudson and Darren „Kolchak“ McGavin, but the book’s waaay better.

Walking through dark passages, along time-crossed roads, looking at Martians reflected in the smooth surface of a canal.

You were kind enough to sign my jacket on your Encounter With Tiber book tour. Later I had the opportunity for Ray Bradbury to sign the jacket and he was so excited to see your signature. He put a big plus sign and signed his name right under yours, exclaiming, „That’s my friend, Buzz!“
