From April 2, Bulgarian citizens will no longer be able to travel freely to the UK for tourist purposes without prior permission. The new rules require all EU travelers, including Bulgarians, to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before departure, News.bg reported.
The ETA will be issued for a period of two years or until the expiration of the passport and will allow multiple short-term visits (up to 6 months) to the UK. When issuing a new passport, a new ETA will be required, as the authorization is linked to the specific identity document.
Applications will be submitted online – via the official website of the British government or via the ETA mobile application. To apply, you will need:
A completed questionnaire in English
A bank card for payment
An email address to which the decision will be sent
