A woman gave birth to a baby in the yard of a house in Sofia, Bulgaria
The reason, according to her family, is that the ambulance came an hour later only when the newborn cried. A neighbor of the family helped to deliver the baby.
„We called 112 at 4:05 a.m. They accepted the address, but after a few minutes they refused and said we were not for an ambulance. I explained that her water had broken and they advised me to order a taxi,“ said Nikola Petrov, the child’s father, on the air of Nova.
„The sanitary workers were inadequate. I had to help them too. Fortunately, we saved the child because it was wrapped around the placenta“, explained Lyubka – the neighbor who helped with the birth.
Emergency services explained that births are not an emergency. Calling 112 does not guarantee an ambulance will be dispatched, as teams may be busy with more serious cases, they said.
