Астрономи от Лайденския университет в Холандия откриха близо до Млечния път звезди, които вероятно са се формирали в друга галактика. Информацията публикува тематичното списание Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, предаде Блиц. Учените потърсили бързо движещи се обекти сред 7 млн. звезди. За целта анализирали получените с космическия телескоп „Гая“ данни за местоположението, паралакса, движението и лъчевата скорост на звездите.
Преценката на орбитите им показала, че сред тях няма звезди, които се движат със свръхголяма скорост и биха могли да стигнат до центъра на Млечния път. Били констатирано, че 7 от 20-те звезди се движат встрани от галактичния диск. Траекториите на останалите 13 обекта са встрани от галактиката, включително орбитите на двете най-бързи звезди, които се движат със скорост 700 км/сек. По мнението на учените тези светила принадлежат към популация извънгалактични звезди и може да са „долетели“ от далечни галактики.
