Production of a new car model is starting in Russia, local media boasted. The plant of the Sova Motors company in Elabug released the first test units of the new Sova 25, and serial production will start in May, reported automedia.bg.

The Sova 25 is an electric cargo model with a mass of 2.5 tons and a load capacity of 1 ton, and its mileage on a single charge is 300 kilometers according to the old NEDC test cycle. In Russia, however, they warn that due to the climatic conditions in the country, the mileage there will be half of that.

In fact, Sova 25 is another Chinese model that will simply be assembled on Russian territory from ready-made kits. In China, the model is Wuling EV50. While Chinese electric cars exported to Europe get a lot of extra equipment due to EU requirements, here the only difference between the Chinese and Russian versions is the emblem. Except for the huge price difference, of course.

In China, Wuling EV50 is currently sold for 15,000 dollars – 26,800 Bulgarian leva. In Russia, the price of the Sova 25 is announced at 3.5 million rubles, or $38,115 at the current exchange rate (approximately BGN 68,200).
