Spouses of servicemen and militiamen who died in the Northern Military District will receive an inheritance pension, regardless of age, ability to work and work activity.
The relevant law was signed by Vladimir Putin on May 29. The document has been published on the official legal information portal and will enter into force at the beginning of 2025.
There are two conditions for granting a pension to the deceased’s spouses: the widower or widower must not have remarried and they must take care of the deceased’s children, who are also entitled to a pension.
Children of deceased servicemen and militiamen who have been assigned an inheritance pension will continue to receive payments. If an adult child continues to study full-time, then both pensions will be paid until the age of 23. Thus, the family will receive two inheritance pensions at the same time.
If the child becomes disabled before the age of 18, the payment of the pension will continue after reaching the age of majority.
Currently, the State Duma is considering a bill that will allow marriage with participants in the special operation „retroactively“, after their death. As one of the authors of the bill, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation, Pavel Krasheninnikov, explained, the document is aimed at protecting the interests of members of the „real“ family of military personnel. On May 20, the government supported this initiative.
