Ulyana, believed to be the oldest cat in Russia, died at the „Cats from Alice“ shelter in Tyumen.

According to the owner, Marina Reidalenko, the cat was almost 32 years old.

She was one of the first to be taken into the shelter in Tyumen in 1992.

“ I took Ulyana on August 3, 1992, on my birthday. I found her near the court, where Babarinka’s Red and White store is now located. Then Ulyana was only 3 months old. In my old notebook there is an entry, in which I record the cats that have arrived,“ says Marina Reidalenko.

Ulyana listed since August 1992

In the summer of 2024, Ulyana was supposed to turn 32 years old. This is much more than the record holder from Tyumen, the cat Dashun, who died at the age of 26. According to Marina Reidalenko, despite all the beauty of Ulyana, no one wanted to take her for themselves. The cat recently had serious kidney problems.

— She died on February 2 at 03:30. My old cat has gone to heaven. It’s hard to talk about the loss. She was a perfect cat, even though she didn’t live in ideal conditions because life in a shelter is hard for cats. This is not the only old cat that I have that no one wants to take for themselves,“ adds Reidalenko.

Ulyana was a cat of the Siberian breed

In the last days of her life, Ulyana felt unwell due to kidney disease

For more than 30 years, Marina has collected more than a hundred animals. The woman herself is afraid that soon she will not be able to take care of the cats because she is sick with cancer.
