Live calculator: 12-year-old boy became world champion in speed calculation

12-year-old Kaloyan Geshev from Sofia, Bulgaria won the speed calculation world championship. The competition was held in Germany and was for juniors from 12 to 15 years old.

Nearly 80 contenders from all over the world took part in it.

Mathematics is the vocation of Kaloyan, who some time ago impressed everyone and won „Bulgaria is looking for talent“. He managed to complete the tasks in 1 hour and 59 minutes, scoring almost the maximum number of points.

„There are tasks that take me a little longer than others, but there was no such task that I couldn’t handle,“ he explained to BTV.

„He practices for about an hour every day. Mandatory every day, because he has to train his speed,“ added his mother Rumyana Gesheva.

Kaloyan says he doesn’t have a favorite award – he values all his victories. This year he will struggle with a new test – the matriculation exams. Both in mathematics and in the Bulgarian language, he is confident that he will manage, because for him there is no impossible task.
